After almost 2 weeks in Ko Samui, Thailand, I head for home this evening.
So it’s that ‘last day’ feeling today.
I’ve been reflecting back over my time here and what I’ve noticed about life on this island.
It’s a whole heap hotter and more humid than I’m used to, and picture postcard stunning, but the obvious aside, I’ve noticed the slower pace of life, the friendliness of the people, how polite and non-aggressive drivers are, and how a tonne of mopeds and other vehicles happily coexist on the roads.
The food, the service wherever we’ve been, the smiles, the gentleness, the willingness to help and the locals’ pride in their beautiful island has been a joy to experience.
It feels like a great recipe for life in general.
To slow down, be present, enjoy what you have, and be kind.
As it said on one restaurant blackboard we went into on the first night: “we make all our dishes fresh from scratch. If you’re in a hurry, please come back when you’re not.”
I loved that, and it set the tone for us for the rest of this amazing holiday.
