Have you ever stopped and wondered why other people get promoted but you don’t?
Or noticed that others seem to always land with their butt in the butter with the best projects or opportunities, but you always seem to land face down in the mud with the worst?
When things don’t ever seem to go your way it’s natural to look at your situation with darkness and blame others. To tell yourself that it’s unfair, out of your hands, that your boss hates you, your face doesn’t fit, or you didn’t wear the right school tie.
Under a storm cloud you can feel a deluge of anger, resentment and bitterness, or be drenched in disappointment and frustration.
In those difficult moments, pause, breathe slowly , and ask yourself this: how does any of that help me?
It consumes a lot of energy and brain space to submerge yourself in a place of ranting ‘what ifs?’ and ‘what abouts?’ and ‘why not me?’.
If you were to gather all that energy and creative thinking (because when we’re venting and plotting revenge, let’s face it, we do get creative) and look at it from the sunny side of the cloud, what might open up for you?
What might you see that you could do differently? What options are now revealing themselves to you? What positive visions and thoughts are unfolding before you?
The sunny side of the storm cloud is where the magic happens. Where you start to empower yourself, advocate for yourself, where your creativity fires up, where you become master of your own destiny, where you can hear your own wisdom.
Your thinking, your responses, your choices, your actions.
That is what you control.
And no-one can take that away from you unless you let them.
If you’re stuck under the storm clouds, and you’ve had enough of giving away your control, let’s find your way to the sunny side. Together.
