This is a great article from Nick Hobson, published on Inc.com, about how leadership today needs to get comfortable with complexity and polarities – what he refers to as ‘both/and’ leadership, embracing flexibility and a meshing of multiple approaches, as opposed to ‘either/or’ leadership which is focussed on a narrow, singular approach.
As a leader, he says, you can be BOTH bold AND manage your risks.
You can be BOTH assertive and decisive AND empathetic and collaborative.
Being adaptable and flexible in your leadership in a complex and fast changing business environment is key.
Polarities can be balanced.
